About Alzheimer's
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia among older people. Dementia interferes with thinking and the ability to perform daily activities. It ranges in severity from the mild stage, when it is just beginning to affect a person’s functioning, to the severe stage, when the person must depend completely on others for basic care.
Many people with Alzheimer’s disease are cared for at home by family members. As the disease progresses, the person will need more and more care. It’s okay to seek help whenever you need it.
It’s important to provide a safe environment for Alzheimer’s patients as they develop personality changes, start experiencing physical decline such as problems with bladder or bowel control, or begin to show confusion about their location.
How We Can Help
Family First provides compassionate, dignified memory care for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s can be a daunting, lonely task. Help from a home caregiver allows you to take time for your own personal care.
Companion Services
Staying in the familiar setting of home can create a feeling of calm and safety. In addition to providing daily care, we partner with Remember for Me to offer companionship and respite care services.
Skilled Care
No treatment can stop Alzheimer’s disease. However, medications are used to treat its symptoms. Our skilled nurses work with physicians to provide medical care through injections, therapy, and more.
Dignified Assistance
We tailor care plans to each individual, focusing on their likes, dislikes, and personality to stimulate memory and help them feel loved as memory loss and confusion become more obvious.
